The Happiest Place on Earth

Can you believe that the happiest place on earth has cockroaches? HUGE ones! My mom and dad took me to the most awesome place ev-er: The Museum of Life and Science. This place has so much stuff to do and look at and play with. It was so much fun, that my mom and dad got us a family membership. That means we can visit anytime we want! Yay!!

OK, so they have a bunch of roaches and tons of other creepy bugs. But they also have this sandbox. Moving all that sand around is a lot of work!

Here I am in the weather section of the museum. I'm standing in the middle of a tornado! How appropriate.

There's even a farm with all kinds of animals like rabbits, a cow, sheep, a turkey, and a goat.

This pot-bellied pig has the same name as my middle name! How appropriate.

One of my favorite spots is the butterfly conservatory. There are tons and tons of different butterflies hanging out here.

Here I am with my dad butterfly-hunting. The museum also has lemurs and bears and outer space and dinosaurs and turtles and snakes and a train and all kinds of stuff! You'll most likely see tons more pictures of this place.

Summertime

This summer has been a HOT one! We've been sweating in 90' weather for weeks now! Good thing the pool is nearby.

I especially like running through these water-misting rings. It took me a while to be brave enough to run through them myself, but look at me now!

Brr! That water is cold...

...and refreshing! Let's do it again!

Let It Snow...Or Not.

We had some serious snowfall this winter. Yeah, yeah, I know this is nothing compared to North Dakota winters, but here in the South, this is very serious. Here is my dad adjusting my inadequate mitten so my fingers don't get frostbitten.

Snow is fun! It's everywhere! Look how deep it is!

Look again at how deep it is. It's friggin' cold! Can we go inside now?

Is it spring yet?

It has been quite a long winter here in the South. We had lots of snow days, which might be fun for the bigger kids in school, but for a little kid like me, I've been ready for the spring to get here.
One of my favorite things to do is to play OUTSIDE.

My mom thinks that if I had it my way, I would spend every second of the day outside, even sleepytime. She's probably right.

Favorite #1: Swings

Did I tell you how much I love to SWING?! Well, I do. It's my favorite thing to do when my mom and dad take me to the playground.

See?

Recovery!

It took a couple of weeks to get over my cold, but as you can see here, I'm feeling better. I finally felt well enough to start playing like I normally do...

...and sassing my mom and dad like I normally do.

Sickie

I was on a pretty good run for a while. But, around Christmastime, I got sick for the very first time. I'm talking sick! It started out with a sniffle, then I got an ear infection, and then I got croup! Yuck!! My mom, dad, and I had lots of loooong nights! Some holiday.

Even though I didn't feel very well, I still played a little bit in my room. Wow, I'm so small, I can still fit into my toy bin.

Whew! Being sick really tires you out. I think I'll play lying down. And keep that nasal aspirator away from me. I'm serious.

Little Drummer Boy

I like music a lot. My favorite kind of music is banging on hard surfaces like the wood floor, pots and pans banging together, and banging on drums as you see me doing in this video. Well, it's music to me, but my mom and dad think it's just noise. Once I get better at the eye-hand coordination thing, they'll start to hear the music.

Children's Museums!

One of my favorite places to go is Kidzu Children's Museum in Chapel Hill. It's not too far from where I and my parents live, so I get to hang out and play with a bunch of other funny kids.

This is the entryway of Kidzu Museum.

Here I am playing in the kitchen area. I think this is my favorite spot in the museum. The utensils double as weapons, which is really cool. My mom doesn't think it's cool.

Here I am in the outdoor garden area at Marbles Kids Museum in Raleigh. It was a fun day trip, and I met this funny kid you see here. He's a good dancer. But I have awesome hair.

Isn't this neat? It's a weird eyeball window that overlooks downtown Raleigh.

Vroom! I like cars. I'm looking forward to getting my driver's license so that I can drive real cars.

Peek-A-CHEW!

NO! I will NOT show you my new teeth! I'm hiding from you! You can't see me or my two little bottom teeth!!

Oooh! A game! Peek-a-boo! This is fun!

Hey, you tricked me! You saw my teeth. No fair.

Walking is Overrated

I know that walking is the great baby milestone, but I found that there are other efficient modes of transportation that might just impress you.  Like the one I demonstrate in the video above.  See, I'm a really good crawler--I can crawl as fast as my parents can walk!  But then I discovered that if I reduce the friction between the carpet and my hand, I can glide across the floor without having to pick up my hand!  This allows me to crawl even faster!!  I amaze myself sometimes.

Where's Ben?

One of my favorite games of all time is the Where's Ben game.  It's funny when my mom and dad can't find me and I hear them asking each other, "Where's Ben?"  They can never find me behind the curtain.

Tee-hee!  Here I am!  I find the best hiding places ever.

Future Michael Phelps?

Here I am at the swimming pool for the first time ever.  I would have posted more pictures, but my mom doesn't want the world to see her in a bikini there just aren't a lot of good ones of me in the pool.  My mom and dad would take me to the pool again and snap more photos.  Unfortunately some kid--NOT me--pooped in the pool and it's closed for scrubbing.  I promise I'll post pictures of my backstroke once the pool opens again.

Happy, Happy, Haaappppyyyyyy!

I like books.  Next to electrical cords, they are my favorite things to play with.  If I'm not trying to eat them, I like looking at the colorful pictures and hearing my mom and dad read the text out loud to me, especially when they use funny voices.  My parents let me turn the pages when they read to me.  My current favorite book is The Pigeon Has Feelings, Too! by Mo Willems.

Baby Work

It might seem that being a baby is easy, and all I do all day is sleep and eat.  That isn't true.  I work all day.  Here I am busy doing baby work.

Of course, my job is to play.  That's what I was doing until my mom interrupted me with her camera...again.  Hey, Mom.  While you're at it, why don't you grab me a snack?  And do something about this diaper, yes?  By the way, I've been cranky lately.  I think I'm going to be sprouting some teeth soon.  OK, nevermind, Mom.  How about a cuddle instead?

Wheeeee!

It was such a nice day today that my mom and dad decided that we should take a walk around the neighborhood and check out the playground. I got to get on the swing!

My mom was a little worried because she thought that my skinny body could surely slip through the opening in the back of the seat. Not to worry, Mom! My dad put a blanket behind my back. My mom still stayed very close just in case.

Swinging is FUN! I can't wait until I get bigger so that I can swing really high and maybe do an Underdog (when Mom isn't watching).

Busy Busy

I know it's been a while since my mom posted to the blog.  A lot has been happening in the past couple of weeks.  We finally moved into our new house!  Well, we moved out of our old place, but we're still working on moving IN to the new house.  My room is pretty much assembled, but the rest of the house is a mess!!  Here I am busy playing with my toys in my room while my mom and dad slave away unpacking boxes.  Once they're done, they'll be sure to upload a photo tour of the new place.  Stay tuned.

Splish Splash

I'm starting to really like bath time.  Now that my motor skills are a little more developed, I can actually play in the water.  I also like splashing water on my mom and dad.  It cracks me up.  Hey, it's not like they couldn't use a bath, too (especially Daddy).

Who's that gorgeous baby?

Who is that?  Is that me??

Hey, I'm pretty cute!  My mom and dad were right all along.  I think I'll just hang out here for a bit and check me out.
